The public Windows x64 desktop release bundles VargaMesh Core v0.2.0 and gives users a graphical full-node and self-custody wallet interface without a cloud-wallet backend.

v0.4.0 adds deterministic 12/24-word BIP39 Recovery Wallets with BIP32 HD derivation and cross-client recovery compatibility. Existing blockchain and wallet data remains under %LOCALAPPDATA%\VargaMesh.

Address validation, fee handling, explicit irreversible-transaction confirmation and temporary unlock for encrypted wallets.
Recovery & backup
Create or restore deterministic 12/24-word BIP39 wallets, with Core-backed wallet backup/restore plus legacy-wallet detection and migration.
Local security model
No telemetry, no cloud wallet service and no remote wallet backend. Core RPC stays bound to localhost.
Two languages
German and English interface with installer and installation-free portable ZIP packages.

The UI does not hold the keys.
The Electron renderer is the interface. Approved operations pass through the main process to the locally running VargaMesh Core daemon. Private-key storage and signing stay in Core.
RPC security: Desktop keeps VargaMesh Core RPC on localhost. Public P2P and local RPC are deliberately separated.

Current limitations matter.
Pre-1.0 limitations
Advanced coin control, PSBT workflows and hardware-wallet integration are not available through the current Desktop interface. v0.4.0 includes deterministic BIP39 Recovery Wallets, BIP32 HD derivation, WIF/watch-only import, wallet migration support, backup/restore, tray controls and the sparse/new-network fallback-fee fix.
Backups first
For a Recovery Wallet, keep the 12/24-word recovery phrase offline and private; for existing wallets, keep an independent Core wallet backup outside the normal Windows data directory. Test pre-1.0 software with small amounts first.
Unsigned builds may warn
Early builds may trigger Windows SmartScreen if a code-signing certificate is not configured. Verify the official SHA256SUMS file before installation.
Data location
Installed and portable builds use %LOCALAPPDATA%\VargaMesh for blockchain, wallet and Core configuration data. The portable ZIP does not carry a live wallet beside the executable.
